Welcome back to the Collective. Over the past week we’ve begun to unleash a plethora of events for New York Tech Week, including an aperitivo evening social event, a yoga session for founders & VCs, and a live podcast open mic session (founders & VCs: join us!).
For context, NYC Tech Week is a "decentralized conference" led by the Andreessen Horowitz team. During the first week of June, global founders, VCs, and technologists flock to NYC to attend events run by organizers like ourselves throughout the city.
Perhaps the most significant thing that we’re doing has yet to be announced, though: our New York Tech Week Startup Pitch Competition.
We’re expecting over one hundred startups from our network of universities, accelerator programs, and corporate partners to participate. Tomorrow will be the full announcement, including a roster of high-profile judges and mentors.
So, we’ll let you in with a behind-the-scenes perspective: a way to get your pitch ahead of your peers in the competition is to meet one of our competition mentors, Anthony Rose, at The Front Yard at Pace University in NYC tomorrow night (Tuesday, April 29), at 6pm. RSVP here!
Anthony typically speaks in public forums as a keynote speaker, in events with thousands of attendees.
So, what did we team up with the Front Yard at Pace University to do?
Bring him directly to you, tomorrow night at 6pm.
And the location? Just a simple classroom on Pace University’s NYC campus in the Financial District (One Pace Plaza).
Space in the classroom for tomorrow night’s event is incredibly limited (it is, after all, in a classroom), so RSVP ASAP if you are interested in attending!
This session is designed to help founders sharpen their pitch, whether you're raising your first round or just learning how to tell your story clearly and convincingly.
And we’re confident that Anthony will be sharing some insights that only he is capable of sharing. After all, his unique experiences include being the architect of the BBC iPlayer, the platform that redefined digital TV in the UK (thus being dubbed the “man who saved the BBC”), and helping over 50K startups receive investment as Founder & CEO of Seedlegals, thus being dubbed the “Steve Jobs of legal tech.”
Did we mention he is a five-time founder with two exits and a Wikipedia page that counts twelve (12!) patents to his name?
We hope to see you there tomorrow night. RSVP here and come ready with your pitch prepared, by the way: individualized feedback in front of the group will be part of the fun!

Welcome to the Collective
If you’re new here: welcome! This newsletter is written by Coeus Collective Co-Founders Antonio DiMeglio and Leon Li.
Coeus Collective is a founder-powered media and community platform elevating the most curious minds in entrepreneurship, technology, and venture capital. Through podcasts, events, and digital media storytelling, we help founders and VCs develop their audience of builders and innovators. Past events have featured Daniel Lubetzky (KIND Snacks, Shark Tank), Michael Baum (Splunk), and Siya Raj Purohit (OpenAI).
Typically, this newsletter revolves around an idea we can’t stop thinking about (like The Dopamine Economy), a behind-the-scenes look into what our team is working on (like this article about our live podcast recording with Siya Raj Purohit of OpenAI), or even a deep-dive into an iconic company or individual in our industry (as we did last week in our Icons Series: IBM article).
Our goal is to provide a unique perspective for a community of Founders & VCs who read in between the headlines.
Stay tuned as the next issue is coming this coming Wednesday, April 30: this time about the tech-enabled future of music festivals, inspired by this year’s Coachella and our forthcoming interview featuring Andrew Ousley, Founder of Unison Media and Death of Classical!
Also, a disclaimer: neither Tuesday’s event featuring Anthony Rose nor the aforementioned & forthcoming Coeus Collective New York Tech Week Pitch Competition constitutes an offer of financial or legal advice, and no offer to invest in any of the companies affiliated with, participating in, or attending either event is being solicited from our audience or anyone else who indirectly learns of or attends the event.
See you Wednesday,
The Collective

You get a notebook! (Almost…)
